Happy Thanksgiving

Here is what I drew and colored for my entry way wall to welcome Thanksgiving.

I do want to add a bit of a background but wasn't sure even what color to make it. Any suggestions?

IF ~ MUSIC EDM #17 musical instrument

I enjoy sketching for Illustration Friday (IF) as well as EveryDay Matters (EDM) and this weeks IF topic is MUSIC and it just so happens that there is an EDM challenge to draw a musical instrument #17, so I am combining this illustration for both clubs.
This is just my pencil sketch

and here is my colored version.

EDM #15

Here is another Every Day Matters entry. This is #15 Draw a tree.

I had a lot of fun with the textured look of the tree's trunk. My squirrel is nice and plump for the winter season that is vastly approaching.

Every Day Matters

Challenge #79 was to draw your ear or someone elses. Here is mine :-)

I had to have my dh take a picture of my ear for me so that I can draw it. This is pretty close to what the picture actually looked like.

Music on the Lawn

Well I finally finished it. My journal entry for my BRDC journal. I almost wish I could have just picked up my watercolor paint brush and painted this. Using color pencils took FOREVER. Why won't I just paint???????

Anyway, here is it...

Quick Draw

I was sitting at the library the other day and decided to see if I can do a complete drawing (sketch and color) in a very short time. A Quick Draw!! ya know

Well there was this young gal sitting across the way studying something and kept making this ' I have an idea' gesture and it tickled me silly. So I decided to try and sketch her. This is what I came up with and it only took me 23 minutes.

New Journal

I am starting a new Art Journal and decided to design the cover. This journal will be for journaling about my discoveries through nature.

Here is the cover, let me know what you think.

It is a lime green leather cover. I used sharpie permanent marker. I am noticing that it is smearing a little so I am wondering if there is something I can use to seal it, or if maybe I should use the burner and burn it on. Whattcha think?

Well since Halloween is so close when I saw the topic for this weeks Illustration Friday I thought of the pumpkin patch...

Penelope went to search for a plump pumpkin and all she could find was a field of "Skinny" pumpkins.

Handmade postcards ~ PINK

I joined a swap over at Swap-bot.com for handmade postcards with PINK as the theme. We were to design postcards with the majority of the color being pink. So I read my partners profiles and this is what I came up with.

My first partner was born in Chicago and loves the Chicago skyline and also has a passion for penguins....
My second partner likes birds, striped socks and trees......

I enjoyed designing these and hope that my partners like them as well.
Hope everyone is having an ART filled week.... Happy Creating!

ATC's ATC's and more ATC's

Here are a few more ATC's I have made for Trades @ ATCSFORALL.COM

Okay so flying birds aren't one of my strong points but I am getting better at my mice.

Todays drawings

I have done this one for a 'skinny' swap at Swap-bot.com. I have called it 'deep in thought'. This is where I would rather be... dipping my toes in a happy pond in the corner of our property!

This lil guy I have made for Rachel who has traded me a few origami ATCs. I hope she likes it.

I am also using him for IF ~ Caution. (caution ... if you see a rat doing tricks in the park ... DON'T FEED HIM CHEESE!)

These two I just did while waiting for my Daughters to finish with teaching riding lessons and horsemanship to a troop of Boy Scouts.
The bird is 'Midnight Flight' and the pig and ladybug 'New Friends'
I hope you all had an 'artsy' day.
Keep on Sketchin!

A new ARTSY twist

**This just in.... the fair has been cancelled due to several inches of rain being dumped on Grayson street. Stay tuned for this fair to be rescheduled**

I have been asked to do some 'Face Painting' at a local summer fest "Groovin on Grayson". I have never done this before so it should be quite interesting. AND FUN!!

Here are some designs I drew up after surfin the web a bit.

I am a little nervous but excited too.
Wish me luck!!!

Who says life has to end at 40

This weekend is my sisters 40th b-day and we are all planning a surprise party for her in Fl. My oldest suggested we get a Grim Reaper for the door, well, they couldn't find one they liked so they asked me to paint one.

Here is what I came up with.

This Diva Princess says "Back off Grim Reaper, my life has just begun!!!"

Whimsey boy ATC's

I had a lot of fun creating this lil guys, I created the first two during the writing of a book I am working on for someone special. The third I did on a larger scale ... it resembles my 12 yr old son. He loves to sing although he won't admit it to anyone. heehee
Let me know what you think!

Fairies

New Fairies. Now I really like the way these turned out. Instead of the cartooney type fairies I have done in the past I have used 'real' gals and gave them fairy wings. Let me know whattcha think.

Here are the ATC's I received...
